Blue Moon in Libra, March 31, 2018

By Thraicie Hawkner

The dynamic, head-strong energy of this Aries Sun is at odds with the desire for diplomacy, brought by the Blue Moon in Libra. We want to take action and make things happen! But the position of this moon also strives to avoid conflict. Finding a productive balance may prove difficult.

Tigereye or Tiger Iron stones are recommended, as well as Blue Agate (or other throat chakra stones) to help us find effective words, rather than confrontational ones. Also, calming blue candles can be dressed with frankincense oil, chamomile oil, or clary sage oil. (Our “Peace” candle, from Coventry Creations, might also be an appropriate choice.) These oils, or the actual herbs along with salt, can be added to a bath for a ritual soak.

Focus on change you are trying to affect; clear your mind of other chatter and distraction. Envision the change already in place, as if it were the normal way of things. Feel the relief of this successful change, and breathe this sensation into your core. When you pull the plug, all blockage to this change will be drawn down the drain along with the cleansing water.

In addition to the Blue Moon, we also have a very strong conjunction between Mars and Saturn in Capricorn. The key words are “Strategy” and “Purpose.” This conjunction pairs well with the Blue Moon in Libra, which we just discussed. If we can stay focused on the goal, and stay on plan, success is assured.

Add to this the sextile between a Scorpio Jupiter, and a Capricorn Pluto, and you have some real magic! This is the combination that brings big social change (or a bold change to your role within that paradigm). This is the perfect time to focus on the world we want to live in, and the steps to get there, rather than regretting what has been.

Full Wolf Moon in Cancer January 2017

The January 12th full moon is most popularly known as the Full Wolf Moon. Other Tribes have other names, but they are all of a theme: the January full moon the Snow Moon, Cold Moon, Ice Moon, Hard Time Moon. Celtic and British names for the January moon included Wolf Moon, Stay Home Moon, Moon after Yule. The Ogham moon calendar has this moon in the month of Birch which goes from December 24 to January 20th.

Sure, the January 12 Full Moon is at 22°27′ Cancer. But the sign actually falls in the decan that contains the Two Twins (Castor and Pollux) of Gemini Constellation. So, take the watery emotions of Cancer and throw in sibling rivalry and a lot of creativity. In myth, they were Good Twin and Bad Twin, Mortal vs Immortal and Safe vs Rash. Normally, when you toss a coin, it lands heads or tails, but with this moon, we might find the coin spinning, revealing the other side in unexpected flashes. Secret agendas will be tough to keep hidden, and what looks dark may reveal new paths to the light. As the night falls, look for Venus in the west, shining brightly in Aquarius, reminding us that Love is there to guide us through. [Read more…]
