July Full Moon in Aquarius: Looking Back, Moving Forward

July Full Moon in Aquarius: Looking Back, Moving Forward

By Thraicie Hawkner

This month’s Full Moon on July 27th involves the Moon and Mars in Aquarius, both opposite the Sun in Leo. This is a time of paradox. As we become increasingly intolerant of intolerance, this retrograde Mars inspires us to look to the past for solutions. What has worked before? What has failed in similar situations?

At the same time, the Sun in Leo shines light on the future. How can we make tomorrow truly radiant, with changes started today? The full scope of the time-line (past, present, future) will inspire truly visionary solutions to social injustices. Of course this energy can be applied on a broad scale, to cultural changes that will benefit us all.

But don’t be shy about applying that same problem-solving process to your personal life. This is the time to spot patterns, and access appropriate solutions. What tactics have worked well in your own past? Or historically, for other people? How can you incorporate those same techniques into your new plan of action?

If you need a little extra insight or advice about how to best utilize this energy, give the Modern Spellcasters’ Tarot a try. It’s blend of ancient archetypes and modern sensibilities is perfect for this full moon. For further exploration of the themes this full moon embodies, we’d suggest Michael Pollan’s new book on consciousness and transcendence, How To Change Your Mind.

If you’re the more practical sort, consider carrying a piece of snowflake obsidian with you. A stone of purity and balance, it helps us to examine old thought patterns and cast off those that don’t benefit us. For the home and altar, there’s always Coventry Creations’ Needed Changes candle. A warm mix of sandalwood and ginger, it’s designed to help you move on and move forward.

June Full Moon in Capricorn 2018: Time For Reflection

June Full Moon in Capricorn 2018: Time For Reflection

Capricorn Full MoonThis month’s Full Moon involves three planets, all in rather interesting positions.

The Sun is in the tender sign of Cancer, while the Moon is conjunct Saturn in hard-working Capricorn. With this combination, we can get into some emotionally complex situations. We feel fragile and needy. But these might be needs that others simply cannot fulfill…which leads us to misinterpretation of other people’s intentions…which leads to a sense of rejection…which starts the cycle anew.

Breaking that cycle to find a calm center of self-awareness and self-care is the real solution. This is a very demanding time, and we are each likely to prioritize our own needs and wants over those of others. It would be wise to pause for a deeper analysis of our true motivations. Are we fulfilling our heart’s desire? Or the expectations of authority figures? Or something else? And what are we demanding or expecting of others to support that?

By discovering the true root of our own needs, and acknowledging those of others, we can refine our interactions. By conscientiously supporting each other, we can evolve together, rather than working at crossed purposes. Meditation and mindfulness practices can help toward this goal.

To read more on how to reach this goal, check out the book The Way of Tenderness by Zenju Earthlyn Manuel. For a little extra help, Shoyeido’s Sitting Zen incense can help encourage an atmosphere of calm. To help sweeten the air, light one of Coventry Creation’s Sweetgrass candles.

Full Moon in Sagittarius, May 29, 2018

Full Moon in Sagittarius, May 29, 2018

Full Moon in SagittariusThis Full Moon may feel a bit unfocused. The Gemini Sun loves to explore ideas, while the Sagittarian Moon yearns to expand horizons. Keeping our minds focused might be a bit challenging, but it will certainly be fun! Celebrate this Esbat with new knowledge and experiences, especially any that explore other cultures or other philosophies. Eye of Horus is constantly offering classes and adding to our selection of books, several of which are mentioned below.

Another interesting planetary influence is a Scorpio Jupiter trine Neptune in Pisces. Wow. This is an ideal time to focus on both societal and personal effects of new knowledge. The more we know, the better decisions we can make, and the better our world and our lives will be. We are likely to see new approaches to marketing or advertising and communicating our vision to others. This can easily become a drive to evangelize on a religious or political level, so try not to go overboard. This aspect is tricky energy to ground!

Depending upon your personal predilections, you could fall into a depressing pit of conspiracy theory, or the shared dream of overcoming our current woes may make a person giddy with optimism. Try to keep an even keel. If we can channel the societal drive for improvement, and give it a push of focused intention, transformative miracles can occur. Now is the time for magic…and radio, and social media, and film, and music, and art, and podcasts, and etc, etc, etc.  Let’s inspire each other!

Some products that might help inspire:

The Strength of Sensitivity by Dr.  Kyra Mesich. This wonderful book, and also her upcoming workshop will help to fine-tune your empathic abilities.

Hidden Mysteries of Orisa by author, scholar, & Ifa priest Awo Falokin Fatunmbi.  If you have been interested in this venerable African tradition, this book is a must-have.  And his discussion will be a perfect opportunity to learn more from an expert.

Coventry Creations’ “Peace” or Truth & Justice candles would be wonderful items to enhance your magic, during the next week or so.

Shoyeido’s “Abundance” or “Golden Pavilion” incense create an atmosphere of optimism.

Lepidolite and Zebra Jasper are good grounding stones, that help us resist or release negativity.  At the same time, they also allow us to heal wounds and receive the positivity we so greatly need.
